[VIDEO] Arjan Talks With V V Brown at This Month's ARTIST #TALK with HP

Last week, I hosted the second installment of my ARTIST #TALK series together with this month's special guest British singer/songwriter V V Brown. Produced in very close partnership with HP, we brought together a select group of bloggers, reporters and superfans at Dylan's Candy Bar in New York to listen to V V talk about her music, inspirations and career.

V V also premiered some brand-new songs that are taken from her forthcoming new album "Lollipops & Politics" including the incredible "Famous," "Tough Like Glue" and the very sexy "Like Fire." We also played her excellent new single "Children" that led to a very meaningful discussion about the state of the world and using music as a call to action to accomplish change. Powerful stuff.

It was a fantastic ARTIST #TALK event that featured great new music and some very candid commentary from V V Brown. A big thank you to V V Brown for making time in her promo schedule to fly up to New York City to guest at the event, Capitol/EMI for their assistance and the fine folks at HP for helping me to produce ARTIST #TALK and their ongoing, steadfast support of great ideas.

Last but not least, a very big thank you to all the people that came out to the event and all of my followers on Twitter and Facebook who submitted questions using hashtag "ARTIST #TALK." Thank you! Stay tuned for more details about the next ARTIST #TALK soon.

Listen To The Feeling "Rosé" (Unplugged at Abbey Road)

Thefeeling-2011

You may remember that I first alerted you about British outfit The Feeling exactly five years ago this week. The group blasted onto the scene with their incredibly impressive "Twelve Stops And Home," a finely-tuned collection of '70s inspired pop rock filled with heartfelt melodies and bittersweet lyrics that was marked by its high-grade, crisp production stylings.

The group's lead singer Dan Gillespie Sells explains in an interview back in 2006, "We like great big choruses with great big hooks." The truth of the matter is that The Feeling knows how to make those hooks memorable. No wonder they name Queen, Karen Carpenter and Mick Fleetwood as people that have influenced them.

When I saw the group perform a few months later at Coachella (together with Mika), I was mightily impressed and eager to see the group break in the U.S. Unfortunately, even after touring with The Fray stateside, "Twelve Stops And Home" didn't stick to American audiences in a big way and the group decided to keep their focus on the U.K.

The BRIT Award nominated group (signed to Cherrytree Records here in America) has continued to write, produce and perform wonderfully charming tunes, staying true to their roots and inspirations. In 2008, The Feeling released "Join With Us" and earlier this year they put out their third studio record, "Together We Were Made."

Being stylish and quintessential British, it should come as no surprise that British fashion brand invited The Feeling recently to take part in an advertising campaign for their Burberry Body perfume. The group performed an acoustic version of their tune "Rosé" at the legendary Abbey Road Studios that is used in the ad campaign.

Lucky for us, the recording of that performance was released on both sides of the Atlantic this week to stream, download and cherish. It is a beautifully-performed, pitch-perfect rendition that will remind you instantly of The Feeling's greatness. The addition of a delicate string section to this 2011 version is nothing less than exquisite. Highly recommended.
