When I met Steve Aoki a few weeks ago, he spoke in depth about his new artist album "Wonderland" and particularly about the variety of people he worked with to create a pop-alternative dance record.
The DJ, producer and founder of the Dim Mak lifestyle business collaborated with people like Wynter Gordon, LMFAO, Rivers Cuomo, Travis Barker and Dutch turntable meister Afrojack to record the LP that he will release in partnership with Ultra Records this winter.
His collaboration with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo hit the web last week and gives us a good taste about what's to come. It is a totally fun and riffy dance pop joint that shows fans a whole new side of post-grunge hero Rivers Cuomo who molds perfectly to Aoki's high-enery beats while delivering party-starting lyrics like, "Earthquakey people, jump around. Nothing they can do or say to bring us down. Get ready to shake with the power of sound."
A portion of the proceeds from "Earthquakey People" will be donated to Music For Relief. Look out for remixes of the song by Dillon Francis and Andrew W.K. Meanwhile, Aoki's own big room house remix of the track, entitled "Earthquakey People (The Sequel)," is already out now. Head to Rdio.com to stream and download the song and Aoki's own remix. Watch the video for "Earthquakey People" after the break.
