Kasabian covered Lana Del Rey this week on BBC Radio One's Live Lounge and turned the lush, dreamy original into a heartfelt alt-rock ballad. Del Rey is polarizing lots of music fans, but all that talk aside, Kasabian shows that "Video Games" is a timeless tune that is about to burst onto the scene in a big, mighty way.
The names Ray and Anita may not immediately ring a bell, but I'm sure 2 Unlimited sounds familair to all the '90s loving club and pop afficinados among you. Ray and Anita were the original and founding members of 2 Unlimited who had megahits back in the early nineties with tracks like "No Limit," "The Magic Friend," "Twilight Zone" and of course "Get Ready For This" which has become a staple at sports arenas around the world.
In fact, it's safe to argue that 2 Unlimited started the "MC meets female vocalist" trend that has pretty much ruled the charts for about two decades now. They were one of the first to try out that new format and commercialized it in a way that was unprecedented at the time.
After their global reign with 2 Unlimited came to an end about a decade ago, Ray and Anita have focused on their family back in Holland while starting a bunch of different solo projects. But more recently, they have reunited in an effort to recapture some of that dancefloor magic that brought them fame around the world.
Check out their new single "Nothing 2 Lose" that was produced by none other than beat hustler extraordinate Chew Fu (Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry) who helps Ray & Anita with a stylish and sleek new dance pop sound that is nothing like the hits you know from them.
It's a slow-burning powerhouse that neatly combines pieces of filter disco with a hooky, bass-driven melody that is the perfect backdrop for Ray's punchy rhymes and Anita's uber-cool vocal delivery. These two still have the magic and "Nothing 2 Lose" can easily ignite some of their original greatness. Watch the video for "Nothing 2 Lose" after the break.
On Tuesday evening, we celebrated another fantastic ARTIST #TALK event in New York City with special guest V V Brown. Produced in very close partnership with HP, ARTIST #TALK is an event series I conceived to create a fresh new spin on the traditional album listening party. (For more about ARTIST #TALK, read a fantastic piece about it on Mashable.com.)
Inspired by V V's new album title "Lollipops & Politics," we decided to host this month's ARTIST #TALK at the legendary (and very colorful) Dylan's Candy Bar that was the perfect setting to feature V V. I spoke with the British singer/songwriter for about 25 minutes about her music and career, which was was followed by the world premiere of select new tracks from her new album, including the incredible "Famous," "Tough Like Glue" and the very sensual "Like Fire."
It was a very special night for V V, not only because she premiered new music, but also because it was a bit of a birthday party. On Monday, the singer turned 28 so we had some cake to share to celebrate.
We concluded the listening party with her new single "Children" which led to a lengthy discussion about the empowering message and the zeitgeist that is captured "Lollipops & Politics." This new album reveals a fresh new artistic direction for V V that is incredible compelling. Stay tuned for a compilation video of ARTIST #TALK later today.

Avicii's "Le7els" is by far one of the biggest dance records of the year that has been sweeping dancefloors all across the world. Sweden's Avicii (aka Tim Berg) perfectly combines a fine knack for melody with soaring dance beats that are instantly captivating and get any crowd moving. Initially called "ID", "Le7els" has gone through multiple reiterations to transform into a pop-savvy brew that is too irresistible to be denied.
With tracks like "Le7els," "Penguin," "Fade Into Darkness" and a bunch of remixes, Avicii has become an impressive new force in the dance world. And now he's getting ready to turn it up a few notches. Universal/Interscope Records will be releasing "Le7els" in the U.S. later this year and plans on giving it a firm push into the mainstream.
The signing of Avicii follows the the addition of U.K. dubstep sensation Nero to Cherrytree Records' growing roster of artists. Cherrytree Records is an Interscope imprint that has been setting the tone for pop alternative music in America. With now both Nero and Avicii in its portfolio, Interscope appeats to put more emphasis on dance in its talent development efforts. This once again underlines that dance music has taken over America and is here to stay.
Expect an announcement about the exact release date of "Le7els" in the U.S. very soon. In the meantime, watch an official montage about the global success of "Le7vels" that was made to announce the Interscope news this morning.
Since 2002, British grime pop group Roll Deep has been a fertile breeding ground for superstar U.K. talent. Artists like Dizzee Rascal and Tinchy Stryder all were part of the group when they first started out almost ten years ago. The group's co-founder Wiley is still part of the band and achieved his first solo number one with support of his Roll Deep crew.
Roll Deep made their chart debut in 2005 when they peaked at no. 11 in the British single chart with "The Avenue." The group has released a bunch of mixtapes and four studio albums, including "Winner Stays On" that featured the number one single "Green Light" featuring the group's charming new addition Tania Foster that hit the charts last year.
While staying true to their experimental and underground beginnings, the group has teamed with some popular dance and pop producers to polish up their sound for their highly anticipated new album. Point in case is their new single "Everybody Reach Up" that was produced by The Wideboys who previously worked with Rihanna and Example.
Download "Everybody Reach Up" totally guilt-free on Roll Deep's web site to get a taste of the crew's new sonic direction. It's a fast paced, adrenaline-fueled grime pop banger about believing in yourself "no matter where you come from" and "living out loud" even when you feel down and out. The track packs a hit-ready '90s club vibe that is a perfect fit for the uplifting vocals of Tania Foster. Grab the track here.
