[FREE MP3] Bluey Robinson "Showgirl" (Labrinth Remix)

Bluey

Labrinth sure is one busy guy. While writing and producing for other people, he has also been working on his own artist album, plus he has been remixing other people's songs. Check out for example his excellent revamp of Bluey Robinson's "Showgirl" that he produced for Reebok's new music initiative. The fine folks at Reebok know that one of the ways to connect with their consumers is to team up with hot and happening new artists so their partnership with Labrinth should come as no surprise.

Labrinth puts his savvy soundboard skills at work for rising U.K. soul pop singer Bluey Robinson who has been making waves overseas with his breakout tune "Showgirl." Born to a Swedish mum and British/ Trinidadian father, Robinson was born in Sweden but moved to London when he was a young child. After his stints on Eastenders and the West End production of The Lion King, the multi-talented young artist is now focusing almost exclusively on a career in music.

Signed to Sony Music, the multi-talented singer (and sometimes skateboarder and guitarist) combines throwback melodies with incredibly soulful vocals that are marked by his youthful flair. "I'm influenced by a lot of old music but I'm also a young guy living in London in 2011, so I want to tie the two angles together," Blue explains in a press release. "I don't want it to be too retro where it doesn't fit and no one can relate to it, or me."

After touring with Tinie Tempah and Jessie J in the U.K., Robinson has been working with Labrinth and others to record more tracks and to tune his own unique brand of soul pop. Labrinth was eager to take on Robinson's "Showgirl" and gives the track a retro-futurist dancefloor make-over, perfectly layering Robinson's earnest soul pop vocals with a funked up, electro-edged new groove of euphoric proportions that comes in good measure. This remix (cleverly dubbed "Reemix") is solid proof of the incredible talent and potential of both Labrint and Robinson. Grab it while it's hot. Highly recommended.

[FREE MP3] Theophilus London "I Stand Alone" (Gigamesh Moonlight Remix)

Img-gigamesh_120849255087

Gigamesh has been making his mark for years in dance clubs with his own popular blend of remixes, as well as his work with remix group DiscoTech who I have featured previously on this blog. The Minneapolis-based producer and remixer extraordinaire is gearing up to release his new self-titled EP on October 18 that unveils more of his synth-driven blend of punchy disco-pop.

After sharing his Sunlight remix of Theophilius London's "I Stand Alone," Gigamesh is now giving away his Moonlight remix of the song. "I Stand Alone" has the perfect ingredients for a Gigamesh mix. The song has not only an instantly hooky chorus, subtle retro stylings (reminiscent of The Police) but it also captures a grand theme that Gigamesh smartly maximizes and captures on his blazing yet very smooth Moonlight disco mix.

Taken from his much-lauded debut LP, "Timez Are Weird These Days," London considered "I Stand Alone" his favorite track on the album that captures his unbridled love for America."I watched Gaspar Noé's I Stand Alone and it took me three nights to watch it," he tells Wired.

"Every night I would watch 30 minutes of it. It was brave, it was searing, very hard but exciting to watch. The next day in the studio I started writing the record. I felt like I had to rep U.S.A. Being and standing alone in this world." (Gigamash photo by Josh Jonhson)

[REMIX] Erasure "When I Start To (Break It All Down)" Frankmusik Remix (Exclusive)

Erasure-Erasure-When-I-Start-To-Break-It-All-Down

Electro-pop wunderkind Frankmusik hasn't exactly made a secret of the fact that he is a massive Erasure fan. So when the British synth pop legends asked the young singer to produce their entire new album it was not only an incredible honor but also a dream come true.

While putting the final touches on his own new album "Do It In The AM," Frankmusik traveled to Maine to work with the duo at Vince Clarke's secluded cabin and he collaborated with the group in his own studio in Hollywood to put together Erasure's "Tomorrow's World," their fourteenth studio album. The result of their teaming is a beautiful, accomplished and cohesive collection of electronic songs that sound totally contemporary and classic at the same time.

In a recent video interview backstage at Erasure's show in Atlanta, Frankmusik talked very candidly about how humbling it was to work in close partnership with his musical heroes on "Tomorrow's World." "Erasure has always been cutting-edge socially and musically. They have a lot of stick for how they do things and that's what attracted me most to the project," he explains. "In their own way, they are very rock 'n roll. Their musical content, the lyrical content is very deep, and intense, and I love all that stuff."

Frankmusik adds, "They joined in the month that I was born in 1985 so they have been going as long as I have existed, which is equally as humbling as working in one room with them."

Frankmusik has been touring with Erasure as a special guest on the duo's North American tour. He will also be joining the duo on some upcoming tour dates in the U.K. The group is on a global trek to meet fans and promote "Tomorrow's World" that will be available in a (digital) record store near you next week.

Frankmusik remixed Erasure's brand-new single "When I Start To (Break It All Down)" that is included as a bonus track on the extended version of "Tomorrow's World." The singer/producer gives the upbeat original an intensely atmospheric make-over to create a gorgeous and shimmering soundscape with a few majestic new twists and an Asian flair towards the outro that fit the song perfectly. Listen to Erasure "When I Start to Break It All Down" (Frankmusik Remix) exclusively after the break.

Digital Music Service Rdio Now Gives You Free Music And Much More

Some of the best things in life are free and starting this week you can add streaming music to the list.Yes! There's now finally a way to satisfy your cravings to listen to music all the time and share it with others at no cost.

Digital music service Rdio (from the makers of Skype) now lets users in the U.S. stream full songs, albums and playlists on demand for free with no ads. That's right! You can listen to the millions of songs in Rdio's mighty online music vault without paying a single penny ever. All you need to start listening, sharing and playlisting is to create a Rdio account using your email address or Facebook account. It's that simple.

I've been obsessed with the Rdio service ever since I started using it earlier this year. What I love about Rdio is that it truly is an all-you-can-eat buffet of music that is available anywhere at anytime. The music never stops and Rdio doesn't either.

Rdio is also ridiciously social. You can easily share whatever you're playing on Facebook and Twitter, but you can also friend people on Rdio that share your taste in music and keep track of their music libraries. You can also see what music is trending in your larger community of friends. Obviously, if you want to keep your taste in music (or the occasional guilty pleasure) completely private you can do that as well.
