Last week, British singer/songwriter V V Brown finally unleashed her much-anticipated new single "Children." Building from a soothing nursery rhyme to a stirring alt-pop stomper, the song is a powerful call to action that the singer wrote to open people's eyes to a few issues she deeply cares about.
V V Brown explains in a press release, "['Children'] was written about a generation that has uninspiring aspirations and believes material wealth is what happiness is." The song feels particularly topical given the summer riots in her hometown of London. "You have to give people a voice," she says. "Everyone has to be heard, because otherwise they will make themselves heard."
Check out some behind the scenes footage from the recording of "Children" that features Chiddy, a children's choir, and also hitmaker Evan "The Kidd" Bogart who co-wrote "Children" and directing the scene around the 1:14 minute mark.
The official music for "Children" will be airing very soon. Some exclusive V V Brown content is coming your way next week Tuesday right here on ArjanWrites.com. Make sure to look out for that. In the meantime, enjoy this fun "making of" video footage. Watch it after the break. (Download V V Brown's "Children" on Rdio or iTunes.)
Hot Chelle Rae likes to have a good time and they like to share it with us. Packed with good vibes and uncomplicated fun, Hot Chelle Rae's happy go lucky pop fare brings out the sunshine whether you like it or not. Their music is so darn catchy that it's simply impossible not to tap or hum along to it. I dare you not to.
And the group's latest greatest "I Like It Like That" is no exception. With lyrics like "I like it like that, windows down chilling with the radio on" and "I like it like that. Sun's so hot, make the girls take it all off," it seems like the good times of summer will continue far into the darker days of fall and winter.
"I Like It Like That" is the follow up to Hot Chelle Rae's chart-topping, double platinum selling smash hit "Tonight Tonight," which was a staple on top forty radio this summer. The track was co-written by the group's Ryan Follese and Nash Overstreet along with GRAMMY winning producer/songwriter Evan "Kidd" Bogart (Beyonce, Britney Spears, Adam Lambert), Emanuel Kiriakou (Jason DeRulo, Selena Gomez, NKOTBSB), Lindy Robbins (Demi Lovato, David Cook), Andrew Goldstein, Dan Book and Alexie Misoul.
The Nashville outfit of Ryan Follese, Nash Overstreet, Ian Keaggy and Jamie Follese is currently working on final mixes for their sophomore album set for release November 29 on RCA Records while touring with The Script. Lead singer Ryan Follese says in a press release, "We are stoked to finally be out of the studio and out on the road again. 'Tonight Tonight' has made this summer the best summer we have ever had as a band. We couldn't be more excited to share our hard work with our fans."
He adds, I feel like there is something for everyone on this album including some speeding tickets and noise violations!" Listen to Hot Chelle Rae "I Like It Like That" featuring hip pop duo New Boyz in the player below and grab it on a digital near you on October 4.
Soundboard maestro and producer extraordinaire Morgan Page has returned with "In The Air," a brand-new and action-packed remix EP that includes revamps of his collaboration with Sultan + Ned Shepard, BT and vocalist Angela McClusky. The EP includes several versions of the title track plus some banging dancefloor workouts by Hardwell and Hard Rock Sofa.
"In The Air" perfectly shows off Morgan Page's signature sound that has been intensified with the help of dance stalwarts BT and Sultan + Ned Shepard. Following his phenomenal "The Longest Road" and "Call My Name," the GRAMMY nominated producer once again shows off his knack for fusing folky, raspy vocals with soaring dance grooves to create larger-than-life and intensely seductive atmospheric tunes.
Page has said that "In The Air" is a song about "the excitement of being in the moment," and that sums it up perfectly. Check out the track in the player below and note the fine layering of the song that not only features Page's fine turntable work but also a subtle string arrangement.
"In The Air" debuted at number 9 on the Billboard Dance Radio Chart and is currently climbing steadily up the Dance/Club Billboard Chart as well. Yesterday, Page announced a "In The Air" club tour in support of the single. The tour will kick off on October 6 and conclude on January 7 at the W Hotel in South Beach, FL. The Saturdays, one of Britain's biggest girl bands, returns with their brand-new single "My Heart Takes Over" on November 14. The song is the third single from the group's forthcoming album, titled "On Your Radar," which is due November 21 on Polydor Records. Since their debut in 2008, The Saturdays have remained a permanent fixture in the British charts, having sold over an impressive 2 million records and napped up ten top ten singles.
Released in just in time for the holiday season, "My Heart Takes Over" is a polished slice of girl pop balladry that sees Mollie, Frankie, Rochelle, Una and Vanessa leave the dancefloor to harmonize about letting go and letting love take over. The song is an accomplished, middle of the road tune that may not particularly excite purists, but it represents an exciting new artistic direction for the group that is mostly known for their dance hits.
"My Heart Takes Over" was produced by Steve Mac who also produced massive hits for people like Kelly Clarkson ("A Moment Like This"), JLS ("The Club Is Alive"), Susan Boyle ("The Gift") and Cobra Starship's current chart stomper "You Make Me Feel."
In a recent interview with Digital Spy, The Saturdays talk frankly about their new album. "We are excited about this new album for a few reasons," they explain. "The ballads this time are very strong. There are quite a few tearjerkers on this one. Our last album ["Headlines"] only had one ballad. This time, we have a few more and they are very singalong."
"My Heart Takes Over" indicates an important transition for the girl group that is also reflected on the new album. Having previously collaborated with heavy hitters from both the U.K. and U.S., such as Chipmunk and Flo Rida, for "On Your Radar" the group has been working with an all-starcast of producers including Space Cowboy, Steve Mac, David Eriksen and Brian Higgins. They also joined forces with Travie McCoy for a spunky feature. Get a first taste of "My Heart Takes Over" after the break.
