[REMIX] Kelly Rowland feat Lil Wayne "Motivation" (Chew Fu Fix)

Brooklyn DJ, producer and remixer Chew Fu is at it again. After cranking out banging remixes for Robyn, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and many others, he now takes on Kelly Rowland's Billboard smash "Motivation" featuring Lil Wayne. Chew Fu doesn't stray too far from the original, but he gives the track a synthy smooth new groove to create a sparkly and escapist dance jam that is nothing less than glorious. Highly recommended. On a related Chew Fu note, his EP "Chew Fu And" is available on iTunes and Amazon now. The digital release includes collaborations with Dough E. Fresh, Kerli, Greg Nice, Donna Summer and many others.

[FIRST LISTEN] Hardwell Premieres New Single "Cobra"

Hardwell-400

With full-throttle dance beats, mind-altering synth chords and melodic crescendos slowly but surely seeping into pop music in America, DJs like Tiesto, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack and also Hardwell have been credited for inspiring and driving that trend.

A good example of that is Hardwell's much-anticipated new single "Cobra" which is in essence a straight up, instrumental dance production. But with the lines between pop and dance getting blurred,  it's not hard to imagine "Cobra" with some big, atmospheric vocals or rap verses that will instantly turn it into chart-ready pop number.

Hardwell's "Cobra" is the following up to his hits "Encoded," "The World" and "Beta," the Dutch DJ's current collaboration with Nicky Romera. "Cobra" is a signature Hardwell track, kicking in with a big chord theme and building an explosive amount of tension untill it all breaks down and the climax unfolds and pushes the tune into overdrive. It's "unexpected but fierce just like a cobra," as a press release points out.

"Cobra" has been getting early support from Tiesto and David Guetta who have been using the track in their DJ sets. To build up anticipation for the the song, Hardwell put together a sizzling video that compiles footage from his recent tour stops that is set to the sound of "Cobra." Watch and listen to the track after the break.

[FRESH NEW] Elodie "Go Away"

Artworks-000012073602-z9cui2-crop

Some of you may remember Elodie from her club hit "Blink," her collaboration with dance producer John Stahlback that was a hit on European dancefloors back in 2007. Since then, the Swedish-American singer has been writing for other artists and collaborating with Beatport faves Manuel de la Mare and Tyler Michaud while working on music for her solo project

The result of her work is her new artist single "Go Away" that she unleashed on iTunes in North America and Europe this week. Produced by Andreas Ã…kerberg and mixed by Jan Sarin, "Go Away" is a buzzing slice of high-grade electro pop with some kicky filter disco leanings that is paced by a punctuating, kinetic beat and her brooding vocals that pack a proper pop punch.

Elodie was born in Sweden but grew up in the States where she graduated from the famed Berklee College of Music before she headed back to Europe. She credits much of her inspiration and artistic point of view to her transatlantic upbringing. "I always felt like an outsider, a weird girl," she told a European radio station recently to explain why she had a hard time fitting in, which ultimately drove her to dance to the beat of her own drum and make music. (Download Elodie "Go Away" on iTunes now.)

[FIRST LISTEN] Bruno Mars "It Will Rain" (from"Breaking Dawn" Soundtrack)

Artworks-000012044222-t7k12i-crop

When I first heard that Bruno Mars would have the lead feature on the new Twilight motion picture soundtrack for Breaking Dawn, I wasn't quite sure how his sweet, soulful crooning would match the dark and moody aesthetic of the Twilight series, and fit alongside performances by Cider Sky and The Joy Formidable.

But Mars' "It Will Rain" turns out to be a very fitting and appropriate addition to this new Twilight soundtrack compilation. The song is marked by its gritty, subtly haunting production stylings courstesy of The Schmeezingtons and Mars' raspy delivery that are a bit of a departure from the happy-go-lucky fare he's mostly known for.

Mars' lyrcis also reflect moodier and darker undertones to emphasize not the joy, but rather the pain that love can cause. Mars sings, "If you ever leave me baby, leave some morphine at the door, 'cause it will take a whole lotta medication to realize what we used to have we don't have anymore (. . . ) There will  be no sunlight if I loose you baby. Don't you say goodbye. I will pick up these broken pieces till I'm bleeding."

In an interview with Billboard, Mars notes that he wrote "It Will Rain" prior to being asked to contribute to the Twilight soundtrack. But as it turns out the song is a perfect fit for the movie. "It Will Rain" is an accomplished song that once again underscores Bruno Mars' impressive versatility as a performer, producer and songwriter who can deliver a sad tale, a joyful tune or a moody performance with ease and conviction. (Pre-order the "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" soundtrack on iTunes.)
