The Killers Premiere Video For New Single "The Cowboy's Christmas Ball" and more...

The Killers Premiere Video For New Single "The Cowboy's Christmas Ball"

After we first heard the brand-spanking new Killers' holiday single "The Cowboy's Christmas Ball" on Tuesday, Island Records unleashed the video for the charity single earlier today. The song is taken from a special EP that was released yesterday and benefits the (RED) Campaign in support of the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Set in the Southwest desert, the fun and quirky mini flick takes some cues from Cowboys & Aliens with three outlaws taking aim at a small village's Christmas cheer before turning their pistols to two alien robots who were beamed to earth. But worry not. The Killers come to the rescue, and in the spirit of Christmas, embrace their new extraterrestrial friends and take them on a special night on the town. (Make sure to watch the robot do the robo-dance, which is priceless.)

Like I previously reported, "The Cowboy's Christmas Ball" is a remake of Michael Martin Murphy's 1991 original that the Vegas four have updated with some new lyrics to reflect their Nevada roots. Great to see the The Killers back in action that has me anxious for more of that soon.

[FRESH NEW] Icona Pop vs Madonna "Nights Like Bonita"

Icona Pop

Sweden's rising alt-pop duo Icona Pop shows some real courage revamping one of the most iconic pop songs of the last three decades. Check out their remake of Madonna's "La Isla Bonita" that they have given a fresh new electro edge and an anthemic new chorus while maintaining Madonna's instantly-recognizable instrumental track. At first listen, it is hard to zone out Madonna's original and focus on the duo's new vocals, but give it a few spins and it will grow on you. It's seamless. Very nicely done.

Kanye, Adele and Bruno Mars Lead 54th GRAMMY Nominations [Wrap Up Report]

The Schmeezington's received 6 nods with Bruno Mars

GRAMMY season kicked off last night with the announcement of the 54th GRAMMY Awards nominees during the annual Nominations Concert on CBS. Marquee categories were announced during the live telecast, and immediately following the show a full list of nominees in 78 categories was released to the public. As the official Community Blogger for GRAMMY.com, I was roaming around backstage at Nokia Live covering all of the action on Twitter last night with minute by minute updates. You can get the entire list of nominees right here, but below some of my highlights and observations.

Kanye West leads the pack with 7 nominations, including for Song of the Year with the all-star cast of "All Of The Lights." West did not pick up a much-anticipated Album of the Year nod, but with seven nominations he has plenty to be happy with. Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars follow West with all 6 nominations each.

The biggest buzz of the night was Skrillex's five GRAMMY nominations, including nods for Best New Artist and Best Electronic/Dance Album for his "Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites" EP. It is a huge accomplishment for the Los Angeles dubstep hero and The Record Academy made history by honoring an emerging dance music sensation in such a big way.

Robyn received two GRAMMY nominations. "Call Your Girlfriend" was nominated for "Best Dance Recording" and "Body Talk Pt 3" received a nod for "Best Electronic/Dance Album." This is the third year Robyn is nominated and hopefully three's a charm and Robyn will pick up a prize or two. Robyn will be competing against releases by David Guetta, Deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia and Cut Copy.

Katy Perry received a Record of the Year nomination for "Firework," a song inspired by Jack Kerouac's On The Road as she noted backstage. Fellow pop stars Lady Gaga and Rihanna had a very good night as well. Gaga received an Album Of The Year nod for "Born This Way" alongside Rihanna's "Loud," Adele's "21" and Foo Fighters "Wasting Light."

A big congrats also to Pink for her nomination in the Best Pop Solo Performance category for "F***king Perfect," a powerful song with lyrics that impacted a lot of people. It's a very deserved nod for the singer.

In the category for Best Remixed Recording, Skrillex leads with his remix of Benny Benassi's "Cinema" featuring Gary Go. Dutch DJ Afrojack received a nod for his remix of Leona Lewis & Avicii's "Collide." Also nominated in this category are Phototek for his remix of "End Of Line" from "Tron: Legacy Reconfigured," Rosabel's remix of Rihanna's "Only Girl" and Daudmau5's remix of Foo Fighters' "Rope."

After his previous GRAMMY win, producer Danger Mouse is once again nominated in the Producer of the Year category together with Butch Vig, Paul Epworth, The Schmeezingtons and Ryan Tedder. Specially noted in the Nominations document is Tedder's work on Adele's "21" and The Schmeezington's production work on Far East Movement's "Rocketeer" and "If I Was You (OMG)."

The 54th annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Sunday, February 12th at The Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS at 8p.m. (ET/PT). Check local listings.
