Harlem rapper/singer Azeali Banks doesn't hold back on her new single "212" that is definitely not safe for radio (or your workplace, NSFW) but it sure is ready to tear up the dancefloor. Bare-knuckle and bad-ass, it's some next-level hip pop that blends Banks' saucy, straight up attitude with a hypnotic club groove that had me sit up and listen the moment the needle dropped.
After graduating from the famed Fiorello H. LaGuardia High Shool of Performing Arts, Missy Banks has been stirring up a storm across the burroughs of New York City collaborating with Diplo and the fine folks of people Fader and Nike.
In an interview with URB, she explains that she's all about mixing it up. "I'm really experimental, if I like something I'll try to create it in my own way, I just make sure to try things out," the 20 year-old New Yorker explains. "I don't like keeping myself in one place and also I tend to make things spontaneous. One day I could be feeling like making something housey, one day I could be feeling like singing some sh*t. I've got some RnB stuff coming as well as some rap stuff."
Unsigned and available, it shouldn't be too long before a savvy A&R exec will scoop up Banks. She's a raw gem with a story to tell. And with hot up and coming collaborators like LuckyMe's Jacques Greene & Lunice (the Montreal fellas featured in the video) she's on to a sound that is freshly forward.
When I spoke with Eric Saade late last month, he was excited for fans to see the video for his new single "Hotter Than Fire." The heartthrob laughed and even revealed that Dev was going to be in the video "in some way" even though she is very pregnant back in Los Angeles and giving birth to a baby girl later this month. I was curious how they were going to pull off a Dev cameo in this video, but check out the freshly unleashed video for "Hotter Than Fire" that shows Eric dancing, prancing and singing his way through an old house with the always fierce and fabulous Dev popping up during the chorus. Fun video for a blazing new Swedish pop singer.
