Starsmith's remix of Marina & The Diamonds' "Radioactive" is an excellent example his uncanny soundboard savvy. The British producer strips out Stargate's larger-than-life pop arrangement and turns the track into a luscious, escapist dance jam that easily matches the vocal and lyrical intensity of Marina's original. It's a wonderfully enticing new remix that has me not only lusting for more new music from Marina, but also anxious for more new original material from Starsmith. (Download MP3)
Coinciding with the premiere of Circque du Soleil's traveling Immortal show in Vancouver this weekend, Epic Records released a brand-new megamix this morning to celebrate the life and music of Michael Jackson.
Cirque de Soleil's North American Immortal tour is a new visual and acrobatic extravaganza that "captures the essence, soul and inspiration of the King of Pop, celebrating a legacy that continues to transcend generations."
This freshly-released Immortal megamix is one of the highlights of the show that "is comprised of four of Michael's greatest hits, including "Can You Feel It," "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," "Billie Jean" and "Black Or White." The seamless medley of hits is taken from "Immortal," a full-length double disc soundtrack that will be released on November 21 and features all of Michael Jackson's tunes that are included in the new Cirque show.
Famed musical designer Kevin Antunes worked with Jamie King, the writer/director of the Immortal show, in redesigning and reimagining more than 40 of Michael Jackson's greatest original recordings to synch with the visuals on screen and the live action on stage. After spending a year in the studio working with Michael's original multi-track master recordings, Kevin created "a new soundscape to Michael's artistry while preserving the power and familiarity of his unparalleled voice and his legendary tracks."
With rumor, innuendo and all kinds of legal rambling dominating the news right now, there's nothing better than to re-focus back on Michael Jackson's incredible legacy that will live on forever. That's what truly matters.
