The Killers continue their annual tradition and will be releasing a holiday single next week that will benefit the RED campaign that fights HIV/AIDS in Africa.
While back in the studio recording their new album after taking some time off as a group, the Vegas four decided to continue supporting a cause close to their heart with some new music like they've done in past years. According to fancommunities, the new single will be called "Cowboy Christmas" or "The Cowboy's Christmas Balls," and will go on sale in digital download stores on World Aids Day, December 1.
Check out a scene from the video shoot that the group tweeted on Thursday and pictures Dave Keuning, Ronnie Vannuci, Brandon Flowers and Mark Stoermer dressed in traditional Western gear to stay true to the song's title.
This new charity tune follows the group's previous holiday singles "A Great Big Sled" (2006), "Don't Shoot Me Santa" (2007), "Joseph, Better You Than Me" (2008), "Happy Birthday Guadalupe" (2009) and "Boots" (2010). The song not only supports an important charity, but it also marks the return of The Killers as a band, a moment many of us have been waiting for. Hopefully, more new music will follow shortly. (Thanks @TheKillers_Esp for the heads up.)
Taylor Berrett's music is best described as a heartfelt and warming brew of folk pop. There's no filler, no fluff. Berrett is a boy with a guitar who sings the sweetest songs about life and love that will move you. His musical perspective should come as no big surprise as he names people like Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and Justin Timberlake as some of his biggest inspirations.
Originally from Virgina, Berrett is now based in Washington DC and is managed by the same people that previously groomed none other than Rihanna for the big time. Berrett was recently signed to a development partnership with Universal Motown to further tune his sound for mainstream delivery. He's currently putting the final touches on his debut EP that should arrive early 2012.
Listen to Berett's "Anchor Chasing" to get a taste of his distinct and noteworthy performance. The song is paced by a vivid guitar track that invokes a melancholic soundscape that is the perfect backdrop for Berrett's emotionally-honest songwriting about hope and heartache that is drenched in poignant observations that demonstrate wisdom beyond his years. Rising turntable hype man SmarterChild flips Flo Rida's "Who Dat Girl" up its head on a brand-new revamp he produced of the smash tune. Introduced by some savvy vocal chopping, SmarterChild gives "Who Dat Girl" a subtle, yet firm electro edge that is anchored by a grinding new bassline and an irresistible dance beat. But fear not. With Akon's instantly recognizble vocal performance SmartChild stays true to the original's infectious pop sensibilities that are courtesy of super producer Benny Blanco. It's a high-grade, radio-ready remake of "Who Dat Girl" that I'm sure Mad Men's ladies man Don Draper would gladly approve of.
