While Adele had her much-dreaded throat surgery in Boston this week, Columbia Records/XL have started the promotional blitz for the singer's upcoming concert DVD that will be out in stores later this month. "Live At The Royal Albert Hall" will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, November 29th and features the full 90 minute performance, plus behind the scenes footage shot throughout that day.
The package also contains an exclusive live CD of the entire show. This is the first time fans will be able to hear all of Adele's hits and best loved songs on one CD plus her stunning covers of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and The Steeldrivers' "If It Hadn't Been For Love." For American fans, who were disappointed Adele had to cancel her U.S. tour due to a hemorrhage of her vocal cord, this is the second best way to experience Adele's incredible live show.
To celebrate "Live At The Royal Albert Hall," the entire film will be shown in movie theatres around the world, in 26 cities. Check Adele's web site for locations, times and to find out how to get tickets.
In the meantime, make sure to beam some positive thoughts to Adele while she's recovering from surgery. It's a critical time for her to regain vocal strength and to get her voice back. I spoke with a voice expert at the acclaimed Duke Voice Care Center in North Carolina who explained some of the serious risks involved in the surgery and the rehabilition that needs to go along with it.
David Witsell, medical director, told me, "Fans should be concerned with Adele. They should all be sending her positive karma (. . .) especially during the time that she is recuperating. This is the time when she will need the support and our patience, not pressure to be back on tour immediately."
