[FRESH NEW] Gallant "Party Girl" (MP3)

Gallant-2

I don't think William Orbit needs much of an introduction for all you pop aficionados out there, but if you insist I'd be happy to list some of his career highlights. Orbit is probably known to most for his work on Madonna's "Ray Of Light," a landmark pop album that helped redefine the superstar's sound and finally brought her the broad, critical-acclaim she had strived for.

Orbit has also worked very closely with the legendary Laurie Mayer, and he has collaborated with people like Beth Orton, All Saints, Sugababes and Robbie Williams on a variety of tracks. What Orbit's variety of achievements all have in common is that they feature his high-grade and foward production work that is one of a kind.

So when Orbit takes an interest in a fresh, new and still unsigned artist it is very much worth paying attention to.

Check out Orbit's production with DJ Teenwolf on Gallant's "Party Girl." Gallant is a fresh new talent who combines his soaring, soulful vocals with a stomping groove on this Orbit/Teenwolf production. This club banger is sure to drive the crowd right into a wild frenzy the moment the beat drops. Guaranteed. Just "back it up full-throttle" and you will fit right in.

But don't let Gallant's happy go lucky club speak fool you. Orbit's production of "Party Girl" is an incredibly impressive and intricate production effort that is crisp, tight and mixed to perfection. And judging from its forward hip hop vibe, it seems it was a bit of departure for Orbit that challenged him in all the right ways. It's a worthy introduction to a fresh new talent that you should take note of. Grab an MP3 of Gallant "Party Girl" (William Orbit Remix) after the break.

World get ready! David Guetta's much-anticipated new LP "Nothing But The Beat" has arrived and it is safe to assume that it will be ruling global charts for many, many months to come. It's an action-packed record that is chock full of hits. The standard edition of "Nothing But The Beat" features collaborations with Akon, Chris Brown, Dev, Flo Rida, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Nicki Minaj, Sia, Snoop Dog, Taio Cruz, Timbaland, Usher, and will.i.am.

But there's more. Guetta is also releasing two deluxe editions, one physical and one digital, feature nine futuristic, electronic and instrumental tracks that neatly showcase his dance roots

Guetta is flying to Los Angeles today for a bunch of public appearances to promote the record. Tonight, I will be emcee-ing and introducing the superstar DJ at the first stateside screening of his documentary Nothing But The Beat.

The film gives fans unique insight into Guetta's life career, and meteoric rise from underground house DJ into one of the world's most sought-after producers. Watch a trailer of the film after the break.

To celebrate the release of "Nothing But The Beat" today, the iconic Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood will be lit in red on Tuesday, making it the first time that the landmark building has ever been lit to mark an album's release. Pretty major.

New Book Chronicles Stories Behind Iconic 1980s Single Artwork

Capture

Pop culture historian Matthew Chojnacki rightfully argues that "the 1980s were the most visually provocative era of the last millennium," which was reflected in the way music was branded and marketed. Every new vinyl single that hit the stands was wrapped in eye-catching sleeves to incorporate the latest trend and taste of the moment.

With the surge of digital music in the last ten years, there has been less emphasis on packaging music and more on creating killer videos and flashy web sites. To celebrate the great music art of the past, Chojnacki has compiled a meaty guide to 7- and 12-inch vinyl single artwork from the '80s.

In his book Put The Needle On The Record, he presents and compares more than 250 vinyl single covers, representing nearly every prominent musician of the decade. The book not only features the iconic images, but also the previously untold stories behind the images from the designers and visual talent behind Madonna, Prince, Adam Ant, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Clash, Pet Shop Boys, Kate Bush and more.

Chojnacki also interviewed a number of artists to get the story behind the single art, including Annie Lennox, Duran Duran, Run-DMC, Gary Numan, The B-52's, Erasure, OMD, Scorpions, The Knack and Yoko Ono. The book also contains a foreword by Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters and an afterword by Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran.

Chojnacki is a long-time reader of ArjanWrites.com and wanted to share one of the book's pages exclusively with you. I selected his review of Madonna's iconic "Into The Groove" single cover. See and download it after the break. (Pre-order Put The Needle On The Record on Amazon now.)
