It seems that Swedish DJ/producer Avicii and his teamed have cleared up their dispute with Leona Lewis after they claimed Lewis had used an unauthorized sample of Avicci's "Penguin" on her new single, "Collide." Lewis' new tune has been re-titled and is now officially a "Lewis/Avicii" track.
Avicii has rushed out the vocal version of "Penguin" that first premiered on this blog back in June and was in the works long before Lewis' version emerged. "Fade Into Darkness" is a poppier version of the instrumental "Penguins" with lyrics written by John Martin who also wrote Swedish House Mafia's "Save The World." Avicii's label Ministry of Sound makes no mention of who the actual vocalist is on the track, but it sure is a fine fit for Aviici's radio-savvy and emotive production.
"Fade Into Darkness" comes along with a music video that tells the story of a romance gone very, very wrong. After living and loving together, the two main characters in the music video have a major fall out that leads to a point of no return that will change everything for both of them. Make sure to watch the video until the very last second to get the full gist of "Fade Into Darkness."
After attending some very fun pre-VMA festivities in Los Angeles last night together with none other than the amazing (and soon to be chart-topping) Kay, she and I stopped by a video set in East Los Angeles early this morning where Far East Movement was shooting a brand-new video for "So What."
Tireless, unstoppable and focused, the group took a moment away from the set earlier last night to perform at Perez Hilton's One Night in Los Angeles concert at The Wiltern Theatre for an explosive set. As soon as the curtain closed, they rushed straight back to the shoot to continue their work on the video.
These guys live on the pulse and they're never skipping a beat. Ever.
Co-directed by the group's Kev Nish, this very special new video is a family affair for Far East Movement. They are producing the video in close partnership with their downtown affiliates with whom they have formed the Transparent Agency. Transparent is a collective of creative individuals in downtown LA who all come together to support eachother in their art and craft, whether that's music, design, videography or any other type of creative expression.
I don't want give away too many clues about this new video and its story line, but let me just say that this video is going to make a very bold and a strong statement. You better keep your eye on its premiere because you don't want to miss a single second. More photos of the shoot after the break.
